Fibre optics is the technology of the future: EBM Telecom AG is investing in the local network infrastructure to pave the way towards a global network.
Modern telecommunications offers an unlimited information network and forms the basis for our day-to-day living and for the success of many business models. By investing in the local network infrastructure, EBM is well placed for fast access to the global network. This places great demands on the infrastructure: availability, speed, stability and security are the main requirements that EBM meets for its customers.
To this end, EBM is providing blanket coverage for a fibre optic network in the lower Basel area. In the next five years, all the important industrial and commercial zones in the region will be connected to the fibre optic network. In addition to the existing 250 km of fibre optic cables, a further 120 km of cables will ensure extensive distribution: the “last mile” will link the final section in the connection right to the end user.
EBM meets its business partners’ requirements in full, from networking and data transmission to secure storage. EBM also offers private customers its all-in-one “Triple Play” package, including radio/television, Internet and telephony. It currently runs on efficient broadband coax cables, but will soon switch to the even faster fibre optic network.
