Motions by different political players and statements published with regard to EBM's strategy have been the subject of debate and comment

EBM aims to guarantee safe and affordable energy provision for its customers. We relate this to the idea of comprehensive sustainability, which implies a close link between "economic performance" factors and "social commitment" and "ecological responsibility".
With this in mind, we carried forward our energy programme of the1980s. Our aim was to provide power and heat in a way that would protect the environment as much as possible, while remaining affordable for everyone. This approach is as relevant as ever today as we plan a range of measures to promote sustainability, with particular emphasis on developing ecological aspects and climate protection in our strategy. We anticipate several million Swiss francs of investment to meet these objectives. Despite this, EBM’s strategy has been the subject of constant criticism in recent times.
