Economic performance, social commitment and ecological responsibility
EBM is clearly market oriented and commercial concerns underpin its activities. That’s the way it has to be because we are not a state-owned provider, as is often mistakenly claimed. Since its foundation, EBM has always been a private, independent cooperative. As early as 1979, EBM was one of the first companies in Switzerland to actively support and promote economical and efficient energy use by setting up a cooperative mandate.
The measures adopted at that time set EBM on a course towards a sustainable energy system. And EBM broadens the concept of sustainability beyond the area of environmental issues. “Sustainability” incorporates three distinct perspectives: “economic performance”, “social responsibility” and “environmental responsibility”. And these are living concepts for EBM, both internally and in the way it projects itself to the outside world.
