EBM focuses on sustainability: economic, social and environmental

EBM has been internationally active as a privately organised cooperative in the energy sector since 1897. Our activities include electricity and network supply, heat, telecommunications & IT, as well as environmental and electro-installations.
We are focusing on comprehensive sustainability and therefore seek to ensure a balanced, safe, affordable and environmentally-friendly energy provision and to offer modern communication services and electro-installations.
EBM currently supplies power to around 220,000 people in Northwest Switzerland and Alsace. As a leading player in local heat provision, we operate over 150 installations across Switzerland, and in the southern Germany and Alsace regions.
We were also one of the first Swiss companies to commit to both the efficient use of traditional energies and the promotion of renewables as far back as 1979. In the period between 1985 and 2009 alone, we have invested over 200 million Swiss francs in new energy production installations in the heat technology, hydro-electric power, photovoltaics, fuel cell and landfill gas divisions, as well as in the additional expenditure for power transfer from local production (including 70 million Swiss francs to develop wind power and photovoltaic installations amounting to a total volume of over 200 million Swiss francs).
